What We Treat > Manual/Manipulative Physical Therapy

Duffy & Bracken Physical Therapy employs physical therapists with advanced degrees in manual and manipulative physical therapy. These degrees require a full-time one to two-year post-graduate course at an accredited school. While often thought to be solely in the chiropractor's and osteopath's domain, manipulation has been taught in physical therapy schools nationally and internationally for many decades.

The Manipulative Physical Therapy degree is recognized and accepted by the American Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapist (OMPT) and International Federation of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy (IFOMPT) Associations.

Physical therapists with these degrees can perform a refined assessment and diagnosis as well as treatment by manual mobilization and manipulation. They can also perform safe, progressed and conservative manipulation techniques.

Only a handful of physical therapists in the New York area have this degree.

At Duffy & Bracken, manipulation is performed at the doctor's request and when medically necessary with the patient's informed consent.
